Dr. R. K. Singh, born on 11th June, 1969, is a Professor and worked as Vice Chancellor, Patliputra University, Patna, Bihar, a state university of Bihar. Having a throughout first-division career, he obtained his Ph.D. from Allahabad University and M.E. from BITS, Pilani. He is a recipient of numerous awards and honours. He has been engaged in teaching, research, administration, and consultancy for the last 28 years. Apart from this, he has worked as Director, B.T. Kumaon Institute of Technology, Dwarahat, Almora, Uttarakhand—an autonomous institution of the Government of Uttarakhand—and was appointed as Director since 01/10/2015 at B.T. Kumaon Institute of Technology, Dwarahat, Almora. Dr. Singh started his esteemed career as a Teaching Assistant at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani (one and a half years, Oct. 4, 1990 - July 1993) and as RA & Scientist (P) at CEERI, Pilani (more than one and a half years, July 1993 - March 20, 1995). He worked as an Assistant Professor (March 21, 1995 - July 30, 1998) at BT Kumaon Institute of Technology (BTKIT), Dwarahat, formerly known as Kumaon Engineering College (KEC), Dwarahat, Almora (more than 3 years), and as Associate Professor (July 31, 1998 - July 30, 2006) at BT Kumaon Institute of Technology, Dwarahat (8 years). He became Professor (July 31, 2006 - till date) at the age of 37 years at BT Kumaon Institute of Technology, Dwarahat. He held positions such as HOD (ECE), Principal at BT Kumaon Institute of Technology, Dwarahat, Officer on Special Duty, Registrar, and Controller of Examination at Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun. Prof. Singh has received felicitations and awards from professional bodies such as Rastriya Samman Puraskar—presented by the Indian Society for Intellectual Development in the presence of His Excellency Shri Satya Narayan Reddy, Ex-Governor, U.P., and His Excellency Shri Bhism Narayan Singh, Ex-Governor, Bihar; Jewel of India Award—presented by the International Institute of Education and Management in the presence of His Excellency Shri Bhism Narayan Singh, Ex-Governor, Bihar, and Hon. Minister of Health, Govt. of Delhi, Shri Yoga Nand; Rastriya Ekta Award—presented by the Global Economic Council, New Delhi, in the presence of His Excellency Shri Madan Lal Khurana, Governor of Rajasthan, on 28th April 2004; and Arch of Excellence Award 2004—presented at the National Seminar, All India Achievers Conference, in the presence of His Excellency Shri Satya Narayan Reddy, Ex-Governor, U.P. He is a member of the Institution of Engineers (India) and has worked as Programme Officer of the National Service Scheme at BTKIT, Dwarahat. Prof. Singh has held positions of responsibility such as Member of various committees of UTU University and the Government of Uttarakhand; First Appellate Authority at BTKIT, Dwarahat (under the Right to Information Act, 2005); handling the World Bank-assisted Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme for BTKIT; and serving as an Expert Member of various committees of institutions and organizations of national and international repute. He has also worked as a Technical Expert for AICTE, NBA, and UGC, Government of India. Prof. Singh has guided 22 Ph.D. scholars and about 15 M.Tech. theses. He has participated in various national and international conferences and has published more than 120 research papers in reputed national and international journals. He has authored eight books and undertaken numerous consultancies for state governments and various PSUs. He has also provided technical assistance as a member of expert groups set up for various tasks. Prof. Singh is a member of prestigious bodies such as the Institution of Engineers (India), Kolkata, IEEE, etc. Prof. Singh has visited various international countries as a keynote speaker and session chairman. Some of the countries visited include Paris (France), Hong Kong, Zurich (Switzerland), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and Bangkok (Thailand), where he delivered keynote speeches and chaired sessions at international conferences.
