The present book “Libraries: Current Trends and Future Perspectives” is a festschrift volume in honour of Dr. T. D. Tilwani. Dr. Thawar Das Tilwani, born on 2nd July 1953 at Beawar (Rajasthan), had received M.Sc. Mathematics (1976), M.Lib.I.Sc & Doc. (1978), PhD. in Library & Information Science (2004) from University of Rajasthan. After serving three decades, he retired as Associate Professor and Head, Department of Library and Information Science, UCSSH, M. L. Sukhadia University, Udaipur (Rajasthan) on 31st July 2013.
The editors have put together invited papers, representing the current trends and future perspectives of the present day's libraries, from eminent information professionals and teachers. There are thirty five articles covering all aspects of modern library and information science. These articles have been categorized under the following subject wise order: Collection Development and Management, Information Storage and Retrieval, LIS Education In India, Library Automation, Digital Libraries, Institutional Repositories, E‐resources, Library consortium, Cloud Computing, Information Literacy, Preservation and conservation.
Along with above, fourteen brief write‐ups about Dr. Tilwani's life, work, social relations, help and guidance etc. carried out in the last. In this way, the book covers all the domains of knowledge in the field of library and information science which is current in nature.

Dr. S. D. Vyas has over 45 years of extensive library and information science experience. Dr. S. D. Vyas is currently the President of Rajasthan Library Association. He has previously served as the University Librarian in NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad for a period of 4+ years. Dr. Vyas superannuated in 2007 as the University Librarian of Banasthali Vidyapith and as Library Science faculty founder of graduate course, having served in the role for 18 years. Prior to that, he served as the Deputy Librarian in American Studies Research Centre, Hyderabad for a period of 9 years and earlier as the Librarian of Hindu College (University of Delhi) Delhi for more than 9 years. He holds a Ph.D. degree from Rajasthan University. He possesses Bachelor and Master Degree in Library Science from Delhi University. He is recipient of S. Das Gupta Gold Medal winner in M. Lib. Science examination. He has 13 books and numerous articles to his credit (more than one hundred) which are published in national as well as international library and information science journals.

Dr. D. K. Singh is working as a Dy. Librarian at Central library, B.H.U., Varanasi since 2006. Before joining B.H.U. he was an assistant librarian at Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan from October 1998 to July 2016. Dr. Singh has master's degrees in Economics, Library and Information Science and Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from B. H. U. Knowledge Management, Digital Preservation, Digital & Virtual Library, Information Storage & Retrieval and Applications of ICT in Library and Information Centre are areas of specialization of Dr. Singh. He published one book and more than 50 papers in various journals, national & International conferences/ seminars proceeding. Dr Singh received ILA‐ Gidwani Deshpandey Best Academic Librarian Awards in 2012. He is Project Coordinator of Manuscripts Conservation Centre and Manuscripts Resource Centre at B.H.U. under the project of National Mission for Manuscripts, India Gandhi National Center for Arts, New Delhi.
