The prediction of earthquakes is an important field of research. It explores the occurrence of major earthquakes around the world, their effects on the societies where they strike, and the other catastrophes they cause, from landslides and fires to floods and tsunamis. This book does not emphasis on a unique problem in earthquake processes, but extents studies on historical earthquakes and seismology in diverse tectonic environments, to more applied studies on earthquake geology.
